See What's going on....  A Display of "Weekly Readers". The pages on the left of the largest whole board photo were donated by Ester Smith and are from 1939. The papers on the right were given by Andrea Marxen in honor of 2012 Inductee Robert N. Hankins, Jr. These newspapers date from 1945 and 1963.  Also, on display you will find a Framed print of the early "Dick and Jane" Reading series as well as a set of the books. You would definitely enjoy the history these items provide, so stop by and browse!!!

Our incredible historians, Mary Lou Doris and Ethel Peterson set up a fabulous Pleasant Hill School Reunion for students that attended Pleasant Hill. See the photos in the slide show on this page and see stories from remembrances on our Facebook page.

The great vision of our founder, Mr. Laurence Stanton, lives on!  One of the founder's dreams, is the installation of a one-room schoolhouse to be restored to interpret 19th century school life in Kansas.  The restoration will include static and interactive displays in the school house to create hands-on learning experiences for visitors who want to learn about the school life of yesteryear. See the "School House Project" page on this website to learn more.

We are always grateful to everyone for any donations and especially the Mariah Foundation and the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas for their support!
